Lumley Castle Hotel is a luxury hotel with 73 bedrooms based in Chester le Street, Co. Durham.
Situation The
hotel used a standard booking engine linked to their property management system. The booking engine offered
little by way of flexibility, with a prolonged eight stage booking process, conversions were minimal compared to telephone
sales.
A review of the booking process was carried out, recommendations were provided and improvements
made to the booking system which resulted in increased sales and improved conversion rates.
Next stage Increased conversions proved there was further scope to increase sales however the booking process could
not be improved. A specification of required features was developed and research was undertaken
to compare alternative booking engines.
